We do not believe Scientology is really a church. There's no mention of God or Jesus Christ anywhere that we have
seen.
We also must point out that we object to force and coercion in psychiatry. We do not necessarily object to all psychiatry
in general. We feel that there are (very few, perhaps) good, caring, compassionate psychiatrists, who have a sincere desire
to be of genuine service. These are the psychiatrists who have turned their backs on the biomedical theory.

The Citizens' Campaign for Human Rights is one of the few organizations working toward the elimination of force in psychiatry.
Its goals are apparently very similar to ours. It has done some very good things.
Unfortunately, though, the CCHR is a part of the Church of Scientology. We do not want to be associated with the Church
of Scientology in any way.
We don't really know anything about it, but it seems to be an organization even worse than psychiatry itself, if that's
possible.
Like us, the Church of Scientology opposes biomedical psychiatry. However, its opposition does not come from a grass-roots
perspective.
We don't really know what Scientology's opposition to force is based on, because it seems to be a very secretive
organization. It's a lot like biomedical psychiatry in that way.

Further, some groups and individuals that publicly oppose forced psychiatric "treatment" are not just against forced
"treatment". They're actually against all treatment, even voluntary. And, they're opposed to any form of help, such
as SSI and SSDI, for those with psych problems or disabilities. Their stance seems to be based on a belief that all psych
problems are forms of "malingering". That's not the kind of "help" our movement needs.
Therefore, even though the CCHR shares similar goals and does some good work, we have to keep Friends and Families
of Psychiatric Survivors completely separated from it.
We cannot however, guarantee that the Webpages to which we link are free of any Scientology connections. This may
not necessarily mean they are Scientologists, though. It could mean they had no other sources of funding. As far
as we can tell, Scientology seems to be the only organization with enough wealth and power to fund public opposition to biomedical
psychiatry.
